It’s been 6 years since the release of A Serbian Film, and 3 years since I’ve watched it. The movie is suppose to have a deep meaning behind it, like most art house films do, but I myself, do not understand the themes the film is attempting to bring to the forefront. What I do know is that I watched the most beautiful display of violence and depravity, that I have ever seen.
I use the term ‘beautiful’, and if you have seen this movie, you will know what I mean. The cinematography, colors, and lighting all extremely well done. Even the acting is top notch, which is scary when thinking about the subject matter and the way it’s handled.
Upon its release, the film was investigated for sexual assault against a minor and other allegations, thankfully, these have been proven not to be true.
The story line is quite simple:
“In Serbia, the retired porn star Milos is married with his beloved wife Marija and they have a little son, Peter, that is their pride and joy. The family is facing financial difficulties, but out of the blue, Milos is contacted by the porn actress Lejla that offers him a job opportunity in an art film. Milos is introduced to the director Vukmir that offers a millionaire contract to Milos to act in a film. However, Vukmir neither show the screenplay nor tell the story to Milos. Milos discuss the proposal with Marija and he signs the contract. But sooner he finds that Vukmir and his crew are involved in sick snuff films of pedophilia, necrophilia and torture and there is no way back to him and maybe it is too late to protect his family”. – IMDB
I was sitting in my bedroom after work one mid summer evening, the only window was open and a warm breeze swept through the room in irregular intervals. The dying evening sun peeping ever so dimly through the cracks of the curtains, little dust particles playfully drifted in the air, highlighted by the warm glow. I was bored, no one was home, I needed something to do. I browse the internet for a movie to watch – thinking the horror genre… Then I watched it.
A Serbian Film appears at the top of many most disturbing list, and after viewing it I can understand why. What follows is my recollection of the scenes that stood out to me, and I will warn you again: Graphic Content
Brutal Blow Job
In one of the earlier scenes (if I remember correctly), Milos is escorted into a dimly lit room where a woman in a short dress is on all fours. Milos is forced to receive head from the women while watching a clearly under age girl eating ice cream in a suggestive manner. As he begins to ejactulate he is told to punch the women in the face. When Milos refuses to, the woman bites down on his dick – forcing him to punch her in the face. It’s a pretty vile scene, as every is shown in detail… Everything.

Rigor Mortis
This one’s a doozy. Milos is drugged and turns into a violent, raging sexual machine. He and the women from earlier at locked into a small room with a bed, where Milos throws her down and begins to have sex with her. After a couple of minutes some dude comes out of the darkness chops the poor girls head off. This cause her muscles to become inflexible and his penis is, well, in one of said muscles. Milos is horrified but is unable to stop.
Death by Penis
This scene occurs during the film’s climax (no pun intended). During most of the movie there is a fat dude that is always wearing sunglasses, real piece of work this guy is (you’ll find out if you can make it until the end). Anyways, him and Milos get into a fight. Milos is naked and has a raging boner. Milos get this fucker to his knees and knocks off his sunglasses, where it is revealed that the name is missing an eye. Milos kills this man by shoving his dick in the dudes eye socket. Yup.
The next couple of scenes are truly horrific and if you found the other ones bad, I suggest you stop now.
All in the Family
Milos, who has been drugged again, and a masked man are escorted to a warehouse where two comatose bodies lie on their stomachs in bed covered entirely in a blanket except for a hole cut, relieving their anus’. Milos and the man begin having rough sex with the bodies, as the men are pounding away, Milos takes the mask off of the man – it’s his brother, who is sober and fully aware what they are doing. Surprised, Milos (or his brother) take the sheets off of the bodies. This part was hard to watch as the bodies they are having sex with are Milos wife and six year son. The boy is frothing from the mouth because he is so sedated, they actually shot this scene quite extreme and is probably why the filmmakers were investigated for child abuse.
New Born Porn
Do I even have to say anything? I don’t – can’t fathom how the writers came up with this shit, let alone fucking film it.
The director of this porn film invites Milos to his home, as he wants to show a sneak peek of what they will be shooting. The director plays a scene for Milos. In this scene we see a dungeon like setting, a pregnant women and a man delivering the baby. This is not a hospital obviously and Milos grow suspicious, the name gently pulls the baby from the woman’s vagina and cuts the umbilical cord. He proceeds to unzip his pants and well, I don’t have to tell you have happens next.
The animatronic baby used for this scene is scary realistic, and the entire thing is unnerving as the sounds effect and imagery are brutal.
